1. What is the all-in monthly price?
Ask for one number that includes the bin, every pickup, fuel surcharges, environmental or regulatory fees and tax. Then ask for the itemised version so you can compare line by line.
2. How long is the contract?
Commercial agreements commonly run for several years. A longer term can buy a lower price — make it a choice, not a surprise.
3. Does it renew automatically?
Many agreements roll over unless you cancel inside a set notice window. Ask for the window in days and put a reminder in your calendar the day you sign.
4. How can the price go up?
Look for clauses that let the supplier raise prices during the term — for fuel, disposal costs or "any reason". Ask for a cap.
5. What extra fees can appear?
Overflowing bins, contamination, extra lifts, blocked access, locks, bin relocation and late payment can all carry charges. Ask for the list and the amounts.
6. What happens if you miss a pickup?
Ask how quickly a missed lift is made up and whether you get a credit. Service matters as much as price.
7. How do I cancel, and what does it cost?
Ask what you'd owe to leave early, how notice must be given (often in writing), and whether you get the bins removed promptly.
One tip: get quotes at the same time
Quotes collected weeks apart are hard to compare. A single BinQuotes request goes to up to three suppliers at once, so you get comparable answers to the same questions.
Common questions
Can I cancel a commercial waste contract early?
It depends on the contract. Many include early-termination fees. Read the termination and renewal clauses, and ask the supplier to explain them in writing.
Should I sign a long waste contract for a lower price?
Only if the price is capped for the term and you understand the renewal terms. A lower rate can be worth it — if it can't be raised mid-contract.
