Which size?
Roll-off quotes normally include a set number of days and a weight allowance. Heavy material (concrete, shingles, wet wood) hits the limit long before the bin is full.

Before you sign anything
Compare like with like. One quote may include seven days and two tonnes; another, three days and one tonne. Line up the days, the tonnes and the overage rate before you compare the headline price.
Know your material. Mixed waste, clean cardboard, wood, metal and concrete are often priced differently. Clean recyclables can be cheaper to dispose of than mixed waste.
Placement. You may need a city permit to put a bin on the road, and plywood under the wheels to protect a driveway or lot.
Ask for: price per haul, days included, weight included, price per extra tonne, extra-day rate, prohibited items and permit help.
